Evans Bay Quickslip – 6 Aug 2025

Crew: Geoff.

Forecast: Northerly 3-5 kts.

Perfect day for cleaning Halo’s hull. I rang Sven and he was able to book us in at the slipway for 1200 hrs. I cast off from Chaffers an hour earlier and motored round to Evans Bay via Shoal Pile with ‘Ernesto’ on helm (hence the nice straight track).

Sven was there to greet me and we hoisted the boat up onto the travel lift strops and moved forward into position.

The hull was certainly due for a clean with quite a bit of slime but little evidence of marine growth. Didn’t replace the zinc anode although it will need doing next time.

All nice and clean and back in the water.

Motored back to Chaffers and docked Halo in her berth at 1450 hrs. As we cruised past NIWA, crewman John spotted us from his office window—nice to know we’ve got shore-based fans keeping watch. 🙂
