Peter’s birthday! It was a nice autumn day so we decided to celebrate the occasion on the water. Peter and Caroline had to do a drop-off at the airport at midday so we agreed to collect them at Scorching Bay at 1230 hrs.
Sandra joined us at Chaffers in the morning. A bit breezier than expected as we cast off and headed across the harbour with Graciela doing a great job on helm and Sandra and I trimming the #3 jib and mainsail.
After rounding Pt Halswell and Point Gordon we arrived at Scorching Bay at 1220 hrs. Nice and sheltered from the northerly breeze. We dropped the sails and tied up at the club mooring – being careful not to bump into any of the swimmers!
Sandra and I pumped up the dinghy and I rowed over to the beach where Peter and Caroline were ready for the pick-up.
Time for the birthday lunch! We set up the cockpit table and enjoyed Sandra’s yummy quiche with Graciela’s delicious crunchy silverbeet slaw salad.
After a relaxing time with good company, music, birthday cake with teas and coffees, we cast off from the mooring at 1445 hrs.
Sandra and Peter took turns on helm for a pleasant sail back towards Lambton Harbour.
We arrived back to a calm and hot Chaffers Marina at 1540 hrs. A great day out on the water. Happy Birthday Peter!
