Hull Washdown
Before sailing over to the Marlborough Sounds we had to wash down the hull. The Waikawa and Picton marina biosecurity rules require: All vessels to have been antifouled in the last six months, or lifted and washed in the last month.
On 28th August I motored Halo round to the Evans Bay yard and Sven hoisted the boat out of the water using the Travel Lift. I gave the hull a good wash down with a soft broom and hose.

Prop Shaft Zinc Anode Replace
We replaced the 1″ zinc anode.

Stuffing Box Packing Replace
It was five years since we replaced the stuffing box packing and it was getting quite leaky. Sven helped me remove the old packing and install three rings of new 1/4″ PTFE Flax packing.

New House Batteries
The house batteries were now 5 years old and due for replacement. I got two new Delkor HDC31 110 amp/hour lead acid batteries from TS Marine and installed them. I took the old ones to Macaulay Metals recycling centre in Seaview and got a few dollars for them.

Orcas!
We then splashed Halo back in the water. On the way back to Chaffers Marina I spotted a pod of Orcas swimming in the harbour.
