The inaugural Wellington Women’s Regatta, organised by Lowry Bay Yacht Club, will be held on 27-28 April 2024. I have offered Halo as a participating boat and Marion, who will be on helm, has organised her crew for the event.
In preparation we took some of the crew out for a training sail on Wellington Harbour. After spending time doing the safety briefing, boat familiarisation, rigging up the sheets and the No. 2 Jib, we cast off from Chaffers Marina at 1130 hrs.
After lots of practise tacking back and forth and beating into Evans Bay, we turned and sailed downwind across the harbour towards Ngauranga Gorge.
We then turned back to beat our way towards Lambton Harbour.
We docked Halo back in her berth at 1415 hrs and packed up the boat. A great time was had by all!
