Chinese Knock-Off 2KW Diesel Heater – Feb 2023

I decided that we needed to get a heater for Halo after some rather cold nights while cruising outside the summer season.

After looking at other boats and talking with boat owners it seemed a 2KW diesel powered unit was the way to go. I ordered a Chinese knock-off unit through AliExpress. OK there would be no local warranty but for the price I could replace it five times and still be saving money 🙂

Isaac from TS Marine did a great job of installing the heater. We put the main unit with its 10 Lt fuel tank in the lazarette locker in the stern of the boat well away from the cabin. We ran the air duct through the sail locker and under the stove to an outlet under the dining table. I helped with the electrical side connecting it up to a 10 amp breaker on the main panel. We installed the remote control next to the radio for easy access.

So far it seems to be working perfectly. Let’s go cruising!

Engine Exhaust Pipe Replacement – Feb 2023

While working on this we also noticed that our old engine exhaust pipe had started leaking water into the lazarette. On further inspection we discovered it had rusted through at the bottom. Rather than repairing it again I contracted TS Marine to fabricate and install a nice new stainless steel unit.
