Crew: Geoff and Hugo
Forecast: Southeast 15 knots, but 10 knots in the Harbour, becoming northeast 10 knots everywhere this evening.
Graciela’s brother Hugo is visiting us from Chile and was keen to go out sailing on Halo. He has a sailing dinghy back home. The forecast was good for his introductory sail. We cast off from Chaffers Marina at 1211 hrs and hoisted the mainsail and No. 2 Jib and I hoisted the Chilean flag to make Hugo feel at home π
Not much wind initially as we motor sailed out past Point Jerningham where got the nice 10 kts SE. Hugo did a great job on helm as we sailed across the harbour.
We picked up the club mooring on the southern side of Matiu / Somes Island at 1330 hrs. We were fairly sheltered from the breeze which had now turned easterly while we had lunch and a coffee.
The sail back was a bit more energetic and we enjoyed a good sail doing 6kts most of the way and tied up at Chaffers at 1500 hrs. A lovely day out on Wellington harbour.
