Isabelle and Max ‘s first fishing adventure! They’d read stories of people going fishing so we decided to take them out to Oriental Bay to give them a taste. Graciela prepared hamburgers to cook on board for dinner and we set off from Chaffers at 1640 hrs, motored round to the bay and dropped the anchor near the fountain. Grandpa pumped up and launched the dinghy and then we set up the fishing rod with a sinker (sans hook) for the kids to learn on. After the expected discussion on who’s turn was first (we need a second rod!) they soon learned the art of dropping the line into the water and reeling it in. I had to explain to them that there aren’t many fish in Oriental Bay but they had a great time anyway. The kids then enjoyed having rides on the dinghy.
Jono finished work and walked to O Bay from his office and Geoff rowed to the beach in the dinghy to collect him. Graciela cooked up the hamburgers and we enjoyed a great dinner on board as the sun started setting over the city.
We weighed the anchor at 1845 hrs and motored back to Chaffers with Max doing a great job helming the boat – with Abu’s help!
