To resolve the problem of the big shackle getting stuck in the bow roller when dropping (and weighing) the anchor I removed the big shackle and spliced the rope directly onto the chain.
My first time splicing rope after watching a few YouTube videos. All looks good but need to monitor how well it works in practice. Don’t want to lose the chain to Davey Jones’s locker!
